Overview
Prior to joining Spruson and Ferguson, Tom Liang has gained extensive intellectual property experience working as a patent attorney and an attorney-at-law in a top Chinese patent agent firm and the Hong Kong office of a top tier European law firm respectively.
Tom’s practice focuses on patent drafting and patent prosecutions for various jurisdictions including China, the US and Europe. Tom has assisted foreign and domestic technology companies, universities, research institutes, and individual inventors in drafting and filing patent applications covering semiconductor devices and manufacturing methods, micro-electronic and opto-electronic technologies, integrated circuit layout designs, computing systems, wireless communication, image processing, and medical instruments, etc. In addition, Tom also handles patent infringement and invalidation disputes before the Chinese courts, and provides strategic advice on patent matters in a wide range of technical fields for various jurisdictions. Tom has advised Fortune 500 companies on telecommunication patent litigation projects involving standard essential patents (SEPs).
Tom’s working languages are English and Chinese (Mandarin and Cantonese). Tom has a Master’s Degree in Semiconductor Physics and LLMs in China and Hong Kong.
