The Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines (IPOPHL) and the Intellectual Property Corporation of Malaysia (MyIPO) have commenced a Patent Prosecution Highway (PPH) Pilot Program with the European Patent Office (EPO).

These PPH pilot programs commenced on 1 July 2017 and will run for an initial period of three years.

The PPH pilot program enables preferential examination of an applicant’s corresponding patent applications where claims have been found patentable by the EPO or the IPOPHL/MyIPO.

With the commencement of the above pilot programs, the IPOPHL now has bilateral PPH agreements with the Japan Patent Office (JPO), United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), Korean Intellectual Property Office (KIPO) and EPO; and MyIPO has bilateral PPH agreements with the JPO and EPO.
