Overview
Dr. Stanley Yip received a B.Eng.(Hons) degree from the University of Bradford, U.K., in 1991 and a PhD degree from the University of Hong Kong in 1995, both in electrical and electronic engineering. Dr. Yip specialises in drafting and prosecuting patent applications for inventions related to telecommunications and IC designs, lighting devices and systems, imaging and video coding, computer architecture, biomechanical devices and other mechanical systems.
Dr. Yip has experience working in the research community for more than ten years. He was a postdoctoral fellow and then a research assistant professor at the University of Hong Kong, conducting research in the field of telecommunications. He was also a principal scientist at Philips Research Asia-Shanghai, performing industrial research in wireless communications (China’s digital terrestrial/mobile TV broadcasting, and in-body communications for medical implants) and also in lighting (effects of light on eye health and well being).
Dr. Yip’s working languages are English, Chinese and Cantonese.
