Overview

Ryan holds a Bachelor of Science (Physics) and a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Technology, Sydney.

Prior to entering the intellectual property profession, Ryan worked as a Mechanical Fabrication and Installation Engineer on industrial processing systems. This involved working on the fabrication processes and installation of industrial processing systems (predominantly automated powder coating lines) around the world.

Ryan is a registered Australian and New Zealand Patent Attorney, registered Australian Trademarks Attorney and a registered New South Wales, Australian Solicitor.

As a patent attorney, and in seeking registered design protection, Ryan works for a range of clients from large multinational corporations to domestic start-ups and individuals.  This work involves directly drafting/preparing and prosecuting Australian and New Zealand patent and design applications and collaborating with foreign associates to seek patent or design protection in overseas jurisdictions.  Ryan also assists his clients in developing strategies around IP protection that are directly relevant to them.

Additionally, Ryan works with clients on contentious matters including oppositions, validity opinions, infringement opinions and freedom to operate opinions.  Ryan assists clients from a broad range of fields including, software and computing, manufacturing, building and construction, medical technologies, mining systems and apparatus, automotive and transportation.
