Overview
Juan Liu has been working in the IP industry for over 18 years and practicing as a patent attorney for over 11 years. She has two years of industry experience as an Optical Engineer at a leading company in China, where her work primarily involved lasers, fibers, and optical elements. She also worked as a Patent Examiner for 7 years at the China IP Administration in the Photoelectric Technology Invention Examination Department, handling patent examination, analysis, and searches in the optics field. Before joining Spruson and Ferguson, she practiced as a patent attorney at a prestigious law firm, managing applications mainly for optical devices from top companies in Japan and Korea.
Juan has extensive experience in patent drafting, prosecution, reexamination, invalidation, FTO analysis, litigation, and more, servicing a variety of clients ranging from startup technical companies to international giants. Her technical expertise encompasses optics (such as lasers, fibers, and optical detection), electricity, image processing, detecting devices, and computer science.
Juan holds a Master’s Degree in Optical Engineering from Nankai University, one of the most reputable universities in China. Her working language is English and Chinese.
