Overview

Januar Yap holds a Bachelor of Engineering with First Class Honours and a PhD from the University of Queensland. His PhD thesis was related to smart antenna systems and wireless channel prediction algorithms. After completing his PhD, he undertook postdoctoral research at Macquarie University working in the field of communications, mainly in satellite communications and complex RF feed-network systems.

Januar has published a number of peer-reviewed research articles in international journals and has presented at numerous international conferences.

Januar is a registered Australian and New Zealand Patent Attorney. He is also a registered Australian Trade Marks Attorney. He completed his Master of Industrial Property from the University of Technology, Sydney in 2012.

His experience includes drafting and prosecution of patent applications in a broad range of fields. The technologies include telecommunications, computing, signal processing, and medical. He also has experience in oppositions before the Australian Patent Office.

He joined the firm in 2010.
