Overview
Heidi is an experienced biotechnology specialist with over two decades in the patent profession. Prior to joining Spruson & Ferguson (Asia), she was a partner at one of the UK’s leading private practice firms. Heidi has also been a partner in the London office of an Am Law 100 firm and has served as a consultant for several private practice firms. She has also worked in-house as the Lead IP counsel for a small biopharmaceutical firm.
Much of Heidi’s practice at Spruson & Ferguson (Asia) involves international patent prosecution, but she also has extensive experience in patent drafting, portfolio management, and providing in-depth validity and infringement advice. Before joining the firm, Heidi was regularly involved in opposition and appeal proceedings before the European Patent Office, and she has participated in numerous oral proceedings at the EPO. Heidi graduated from Oxford University with a first-class degree in Biological Sciences and was awarded the R A Knox Memorial Prize for the best first-class performance in a Final Honour School. She has qualified as a European patent attorney and as a UK patent attorney, although is not presently registered. Heidi has additionally completed the formal study component for qualifying as an Australian Patent Attorney, gaining in the process a Graduate Diploma in Intellectual Property and the prize for the highest mark in the Patent Law module.
