Spruson & Ferguson bolsters Melbourne office with new Principal, Mark Roberts

Spruson & Ferguson is pleased to welcome Mark Roberts as a Principal in the firm’s Melbourne office.

Mark will join the firm from July 2023.

Mark is a significant addition to Spruson & Ferguson, with 30 years’ experience as a Patent Attorney (including 21 years as a Partner/Principal), and 16 years as a guest lecturer in Patent Law at the University of Melbourne.

Mark will join the firm’s Chemical and Life Sciences practice. Joining Spruson & Ferguson from another large Australian IP firm, Mark is an Australian and New Zealand Patent and Trade Marks Attorney, specialising in organic and pharmaceutical chemistry, pharmacology, biotechnology, nanotechnology, general chemistry, agribusiness & food technology, clean technology, and medical devices.

Mark is a prominent leader in the Australian IP industry, consistently gaining recognition in leading publications including Managing IP where he has been rated as an IP Star since 2014, AsiaLaw Leading Lawyers, Asia Pacific Legal 500 and Who’s Who Legal Patents.

Mark has also co-authored the Australian chapter of the LexisNexis publication International Pharmaceutical Law and Practice and continues in his role as a visiting lecturer on patent law at the University of Melbourne.
