Dr Mike Zammit appointed leader of Chemical/Life Sciences team in Australia

Spruson & Ferguson is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr Mike Zammit as its new Chemical/Life Sciences Practice Group Leader in Australia.

Mike joined Spruson & Ferguson in October 2020 after 16 years of experience in another leading Australian IP firm.

Mike is a registered patent attorney specialising in the chemical sciences. He assists local and international clients in various aspects of Australian and New Zealand patent practice, including drafting, prosecution, oppositions, patentability / validity opinions and freedom to operate advice. Mike has published a number of peer-reviewed research articles in international journals and has presented at numerous scientific conferences and meetings. He has also published many articles and commentaries on various aspects of patent law.

Mike is a registered Australian and New Zealand Patent Attorney. He is a Fellow of The Institute of Patent and Trade Mark Attorneys of Australia (IPTA), an IPTA Councillor, and is the Course Co-ordinator for IPTA’s IP Administrator’s course. In addition, he is a Member of The Intellectual Property Society of Australia and New Zealand (IPSANZ) and is a chartered member of the Royal Australian Chemical Institute (RACI).

Mike’s appointment to Practice Group Leader comes after Simon Potter’s appointment to Australian Managing Director for Spruson & Ferguson.

Mike is based in Spruson & Ferguson’s Sydney office.
