Ernie has over 20 years patent and trade mark experience specialising in mechanical and electrical fields of technology, including computer software and telecommunications. Ernie is a registered patent attorney in the United States, Australia and New Zealand. He has significant experience in patent drafting and prosecution, patent oppositions, registered design prosecution and enforcement, negotiating and drafting licensing agreements, as well as drafting validity and infringement opinions concerning U.S., Australian and New Zealand patents and designs. Ernie has drafted and prosecuted patents and designs in numerous countries around the world for a wide range of clients including world-leading technology brands.
During his career, Ernie has worked at the General Motors Proving Ground as a Project Engineer and at the United States National Institute of Standards and Technology in the field of technology transfer. He has also held roles as Licensing Director for Technology Transfer and Associate Patent Counsel at the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory.
