Simon Reynolds is a Senior Associate in Spruson & Ferguson’s Engineering & ICT team. Simon is a Registered Australian and New Zealand Patent Attorney and a Registered Australian Trade Mark Attorney having qualified for registration in 2007. Simon’s practice focuses on the preparation and prosecution of patent applications, conducting patent oppositions; and advising on patentability, patent validity, patent infringement and litigation.

Prior to entering the patent profession, Simon worked for an Australian company providing geology and mine planning software, supporting open pit and underground operations and exploration projects.

Simon holds a Bachelor of Engineering in Computer Engineering (Honours) from the University of Wollongong and a Master of Industrial Property from the University of Technology, Sydney. Simon’s honours research involved the development and implementation of a compiler for an Intel microprocessor.

Simon’s experience encompasses a range of technologies including embedded systems, distributed computer systems, artificial intelligence technologies, blockchain technologies, website architectures, telecommunication systems, search engine architectures, local and distributed malicious software scanning systems, software code generators, printing devices, digital signal processing, and security systems.

Simon is a fellow of the Institute of Patent and Trade Mark Attorneys of Australia (IPTA) and a member of IPSANZ.
