With a broad background in business, law and engineering, Regan has a unique perspective on the protection of IP and the strategic value of patents and trade marks to businesses.
Regan practices in both patents and trademarks, with the majority of his work being in mechanical devices, alternative energy systems and computer implemented inventions in the area of financial systems and hardware/software applications.
With almost 20 years’ experience in intellectual property, Regan is a trusted advisor, protector and manager of IP assets to several large national and international companies. Regan also assists many local small to medium businesses and individual inventors and enjoys seeing their ideas come to life in the marketplace. He regularly speaks as commercialisation seminars as well as mentoring start-up and growing businesses.
Regan was previously the CEO of Cullens Patent and Trademark attorneys, a firm with a history of more than 80 years, prior to the merger of Cullens with Spruson & Ferguson. Regan joined Cullens in 2001 as a trainee patent and trade mark attorney and was made a principal of the firm in 2007. Prior to joining Cullens, Regan completed studies in business, law and engineering at the University of Queensland. During his university studies, Regan worked for a multinational business which gave him a unique appreciation for the economic as well as legal and technical aspects of inventions and branding in a modern business.
Regan also holds a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment and is an advocate or providing better education in relation to the protection and strategic use of patents and trade marks to businesses.
