Overview

Tim Allen recently joined Spruson & Ferguson as a Principal in our trade marks team and leads Spruson & Ferguson’s new Melbourne office. Tim has more than 20 years of experience in intellectual property. He specialises in all aspects of trade mark, copyright and design law and misleading conduct and passing off.

Tim represents some of the world’s leading brands in managing their trade mark portfolios both in Australia and overseas and serving as a trusted advisor to key decision-makers in commercial and contentious trade mark matters.

He advises across all aspects of the trade mark life cycle, from brand creation, entry of brands into new markets, brand registration and exploitation through licensees, defending actions for removal and global trade mark portfolio maintenance and watching.

Tim is an experienced advocate in opposition proceedings and other matters before the Australian Trade Marks Office and has worked on a number of high profile cases, including the largest set of opposition proceedings in Australian trade mark history.

Tim’s expertise continues to be recognised internationally in publications such as Chambers Global, World Trademark Review and IP stars.

Prior to joining Spruson & Ferguson, Tim was a Partner at a major Australian law firm.
