Overview
Serene Ong graduated from the National University of Singapore with a Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical) with Honours and joined a reputable Japanese patent law firm based in Osaka as a Patent Analyst. During her tenure, she was actively involved in prosecution and litigation matters with regard to patent applications across a wide range of technologies and her role grew to a team leader of a team of Patent Analysts.
In 2011, Serene joined Yokogawa Electric International in an in-house role. Her responsibilities included the management of the intellectual property portfolios of their Singapore and India subsidiaries. Her passion in matters of intellectual property is evidenced by her regular contribution to the internal publication of IP News, participation in seminars to bring greater awareness of IP matters and providing open door IP consultation sessions.
Serene was recognized for her expertise and outstanding contribution towards protecting IP work in the US, India and Singapore when she received the Yokogawa Headquarters Innovation Award (2012), as the very first recipient. This award is issued by the Head of Yokogawa Innovation Headquarters based in Japan.
At Spruson & Ferguson (Asia), Serene is involved in the drafting and prosecution of patent applications in Singapore and Overseas.
