Philip Lyren is a senior IP counsel at Spruson & Ferguson, based in the Bangkok office. Philip has considerable experience in patent practice in the US and Asia and is part of Spruson & Ferguson’s Engineering and ICT Group.
His practice primarily involves the preparation, drafting, and prosecution of patent applications, advice in relation to patent validity and enforcement, patent strategy, and patent infringement advice, predominantly in the fields of electrical engineering and complex software.
Philip has considerable experience in patent prosecution in the US, including drafting hundreds of patent applications and filing hundreds of appeals before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB). Philip also has extensive experience in Inter Partes Reviews (IPRs) and the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit (CAFC).
Prior to joining the firm, Philip worked for several years as a patent attorney in Hong Kong and for more than ten years as a contract in-house IP counsel for a large US multi-national company. His technical qualifications include a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering and Physics from Case Western Reserve University and a Juris Doctorate from Washington University in St. Louis, MO. Philip is licensed as a US patent attorney before the US Patent and Trademark Office and multiple jurisdictions in the US.
