Overview
Marie graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering degree from the University of the Philippines Diliman. Her undergraduate thesis focused on synthesizing electrocatalysts for the oxygen reduction reaction in proton exchange membrane fuel cells. As part of her undergraduate requirements, she also worked on a plant design for the production of diphenolic acid via the synthesis of levulinic acid from waste corn cobs.
Marie is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Food Science at the University of the Philippines Diliman, with a research focus on food waste valorisation.
Prior to joining Spruson & Ferguson, she worked as a Patent Associate in an intellectual property law firm in the Philippines, where she prosecuted patent applications in the fields of chemistry, agriculture, biotechnology and pharmaceuticals. Her main responsibilities included filing new applications, responding to office actions, and advising international clients regarding patent-related issues in the Philippines.
