Overview
Jarrod is an experienced intellectual property lawyer and trade marks attorney.
Jarrod specialises in trade marks law and practice, including brand clearance searches, prosecution, contentious matters and management of trade mark portfolios. This includes extensive experience in matters of trade mark opposition and removal proceedings, domain name disputes and matters of trade mark infringement and breaches of the Australian Consumer Law.
He provides strategic and commercially-minded trade mark advice to his clients and has built strong relationships with clients and associates. This has seen him represent brand owners across a wide spectrum of industries, including well-known global entities.
Prior to joining Spruson & Ferguson, Jarrod worked as an intellectual property lawyer and trade marks attorney at two of Australia’s largest intellectual property firms, gaining experience across a wide variety of intellectual property matters, including trade marks, copyright, domain names, contentious matters and licensing of intellectual property. Before working in private practice, he was a Judge’s Associate in the Federal Circuit Court of Australia, and was involved in disputes across the full spectrum of the Court’s jurisdiction.
An experienced Senior Associate, Jarrod enjoys assisting practitioners new to the IP profession, as a valuable mentor for junior staff. He is also a regular contributor to the industry, with the publication of articles, and presenting at local and international industry conferences and exhibitions.
He is a member of the Intellectual Property Society of Australia and New Zealand and the Institute of Patent and Trade Mark Attorneys of Australia.
