Overview
Grant has more than 16 years’ experience as a Trans-Tasman patent attorney across Australia and New Zealand. Grant’s practice involves working with Australian companies and universities to secure patent rights in Australia and overseas, as well as patent prosecution and related opinion matters. With a PhD in medicinal chemistry, his is focus is in organic chemistry, pharmaceutical and medicinal chemistry, veterinary medicines, industrial chemistry and materials science.
Grant completed his doctorate at the Institute for Molecular Biosciences, University of Queensland. His thesis entailed the design and development of small molecule agonist and antagonist compounds targeting a protease activated G-protein coupled receptor. This involved solution and solid phase synthesis of small organic molecules and peptides and collating structure activity relationship data obtained via several cell-based functional assays.
Grant is a member of the Institute of Patent and Trademark Attorneys of Australia (IPTA) and a member of The Intellectual Property Society of Australia and New Zealand (IPSANZ). He is also a member of the Royal Australian Chemical Institute (RACI).
