Overview
Po Kai holds a Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Chemistry & Biological Chemistry from the Nanyang Technological University. Po Kai’s first venture into research began during his time as an exchange student in the University of Edinburgh, participating in the synthesis of coordination cages with extended cavities for catalysis. His final year project focused on the study of metal carbonyls for bio-sensing.
He then pursued his postgraduate studies as one of the pioneers of the Nanyang Technological University – Sorbonne Université Joint PhD Program under the Nanyang Technological University Research Scholarship. He was also a recipient of the Merlion PhD by the Embassy of France in Singapore in 2018.
Po Kai pursued several projects during his postgraduate studies, ranging from synthesising semi-synthetic protein models of [Fe] hydrogenase to studying artificial metalloenzymes from bovine beta-lactoglobulin and transition metal N-functionalised carbene cofactors.
