A pragmatic, strategic and commercially oriented adviser, Andrew brings over two decades of IP experience to Spruson & Ferguson, having served as both in-house counsel at one of the region’s largest medical device companies, and prior to that at another leading IP firm.
During his tenure in-house, Andrew spearheaded and cultivated a team dedicated to global litigation as well as numerous oppositions across Australia, New Zealand, and Europe. He skilfully crafted complex, multi-jurisdictional IP portfolios to support the commercialisation of award-winning products. Andrew’s success in this role was underpinned by his collaborative approach, working seamlessly with R&D, marketing, supply chain, clinical, and regulatory functions.
Recognised by Managing IP as a Corporate IP Star from 2019 to 2023, Andrew’s expertise extends beyond medical devices. He has also provided strategic IP counsel for industries and technologies such as mining and excavation tools, light metal alloys, wastewater treatment, food packaging, biodiesel, and petroleum refining. Andrew is committed to assisting clients in developing and executing robust IP strategies, enhancing their capabilities to defend their products and aggressively counteract infringement.
