Heather O’Kane has a background in mechanical engineering primarily in the automotive industry specialising in manufacturing and design. After practicing as a mechanical engineer for several years, Heather entered the patent profession in 2007 and became a registered patent attorney in 2009.
Heather’s extensive practical engineering experience has provided her with a deep knowledge and understanding of the mechanical engineering industry. Heather is an experienced patent attorney and is registered in Australia, New Zealand and the United States. She has practiced in Australia and Hong Kong, both in small and large firms, and has a particular strength in understanding the needs of local clients when drafting patent specifications and providing infringement and validity opinions.
Heather is experienced in drafting patent specifications for a broad range of technologies including the automotive, agricultural, mining and medical fields. Heather is also a member of the Spruson & Ferguson Design Group.
