About the role
Due to the growing demand for technology protection in Singapore and regionally, we are currently looking for Chemists, Chemical Engineers or Biotechnologists to train as Patent Attorneys. While candidates across all chemistry or biotechnology related fields will be considered, candidates in the chemical fieldfrom organic chemistry (such as from polymer chemistry or medicinal chemistry) or material science backgrounds will have an advantage. In the field of Biotechnology, candidates with a background in molecular genetics or immunology, and additional knowledge in bioinformatics will have an advantage.
Candidates will be considered for a Patent Scientist position and will have a PhD or Masters in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or a biological related science and any related work experience will be viewed favorably. More importantly, candidates must exhibit strong English Language communication skills (both written and oral) and the capacity for understanding diverse technologies. Preference will be given to candidates with 2–3 years industry or post graduate research experience.
The role will involve all aspects of patent work including the drafting, filing and prosecution of patent applications in Singapore and abroad.
Successful candidates will receive training and development towards achieving the coveted professional status of a Singapore Registered Patent Attorney with very attractive remuneration at qualification level. Accordingly, candidates must be ready to make a long-term commitment (typically at least 4-5 years) to study outside of typical office hours to pass the necessary examinations to qualify as a Patent Attorney.
